About my practice

A Visual Artist from Jammu and Kashmir. My current practice is majorly based on textile and drawing. I like to narrate my stories through the medium of embroidery. Through my embroideries, I try to focus on the everyday tiny experiences that are not always logical. I like to see this world through a child's lens where the lines between the reality and imagination are always blurred. These stories sometimes feel illogical yet they give us an impression of how simple this world can be. Most of the experiences that I portray might look naive in the first impression but they talk and also make me question what we as humans are trying to seek.
Colours are an integral part of my work. They are intuitively picked and stitched through wool and threads in my embroideries. Creating these embroideries help me to release my inner emotions and to bring life to my stories. Just like the domestic Embroidery practice where females used to express their unsaid emotions, stories and desires through this language, I like to narrate my own versions of everyday episodes through this intimate medium of Embroidery.
